The National Day Mourning commemorates the workers who died due to workplace injury or illness. Every year, approximately 1,000 Canadian workers and more than 2.7 million workers around the world die because of something that happens at work. In 2019, the most recent year for which statistics are available, there were 925 accepted workplace fatalities and 271,806 accepted lost time claims in Canada. in 2020 the Covid19 Pandemic has shown how vulnerable workplaces can be and the true efforts in takes to make them safe for everyone. This year due to COVID 10 we will once again be remembering those workers who lost their because of work virtually.
