Connecting the Corridor: Lessons from a Century of Racism and Resilience Along the Purple Line
Connecting the Corridor, a two-hour virtual event, will tell the story of how the Purple Line corridor has been shaped by racism and the organizing and resilience communities have shown in response. The event will explore how communities along the corridor have been affected by discrimination and urban renewal, as well as how patterns of residential and economic segregation are perpetuated by contemporary policies. Facilitated by planner, writer, and advocate Dan Reed, the event will feature presentations from community storytellers who will describe the personal and enduring consequences of the region’s often inequitable development, with lessons for how our community can make sure that the Purple Line is a force for racial equity and not an instrument of displacement.

Live Spanish translation and closed captioning in English and Spanish will be provided.

The event is presented by Kaiser Permanente, the Coalition for Smarter Growth, and the Purple Line Corridor Coalition.
