His energy and skills have focused for decades on industry and consumer education through presentations, radio, television and print, most recently in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, AARP Bulletin and many others. Now, through the Living In Place Institute he brings his energy and knowledge to the forefront of industry and consumer attention. Erik and his wife live in the mountains of Colorado and enjoy visiting with thousands of children, of all ages, during the December holidays.

Louie is the Co-Founder of the Living In Place Institute and passionate about helping people make their homes accessible, comfortable and safe. His early career included 22 years in advanced research and development for medical and analytical devices. Recognized by the prestigious International R&D 100 Award for Advanced Technologies Louie has been awarded many related patents. In 2004, Louie founded US Safety Pros, specializing in childproofing, radon testing and mitigation, home accessibility and other home safety services. As a licensed general contractor, childproofing over 3,000 homes and helping countless others mitigate radon, improve family safety, Louie has made homes safer for individuals of all ages and physical challenges. Louie is a devoted husband and father living just outside Boulder, Colorado with his wife and their three whippet racing dogs!
