Proactive Practices for Preventing and Alleviating Fear, Anxiety, Stress & Pain in Times of COVID-19
In this webinar, Tamara Grubb, DVM, PhD, DACVAA, and Gary Landsberg, DVM, DACVB, DECAWBM (CA), will discuss the maintenance of Fear Free protocols, including guidelines for the use and selection of medications at a time when the COVID-19 virus is necessitating social distancing and limitation of services, which can lead to the need for pre-entry assessment and separating owners from their pets for veterinary care.
At the end of this webinar, you will be able to:
- Develop plans using the emotional record, medical record, and a pre-visit veterinary assessment to prevent and alleviate FAS and pain, and provide necessary healthcare services while ensuring social distancing and addressing occupational health and safety.
- Develop strategies for the use of pre-visit pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and behavioral management products for veterinary visits that may also require physical separation of the pet and owner.
- Develop strategies for providing healthcare and addressing FAS and pain on arrival with pre-entry assessment, considerate approach, and options for further medication, prior to separation of the pet from the owner and for maintaining ongoing communication and consent through the visit.
