Parents will learn about the challenges that may come from this transitional period, how to help prepare their teen for a positive high school experience, and resources available for teens who may be struggling to adapt to a new chapter.

Melisa Plants
Counselor, MFT @Pleasant Valley High School
Melisa Plants's passion is to motivate people who want to improve their lives through education, especially those who have faced challenges and hope to build resilience. While working in the Bay Area, Paradise and Chico Melisa have accrued over 11 years of counseling experience. 6 of those years are specific to academic counseling. Melisa Plants is currently an academic counselor for Pleasant Valley High School in Chico. In addition to school counseling, Melisa has experience in the mental health field as a licensed MFT including individual, family, and group therapy; school-based counseling for rural and urban communities; level 12 and 14 group homes; and intensive in-home counseling for adults. These roles gave her experience in working with a diverse group of people with a wide range of personalities and backgrounds.
