Through this webinar, participants will understand Sensory Processing Disorder and begin to learn how SPD affects self regulation, attention, and academic learning. Participants will learn to use sensory strategies and cognitive based tools to create adequate sensory diets to support adaptive responses for the child's nervous system. These strategies are especially necessary during this time of "shelter in place" and will also be helpful as we transition back to more traditional social and academic domains.
The objectives of the webinar are:
• help parents to understand the impact of sensory processing on attention, behavior, learning and social engagement
• give tools to use at home, particularly during this shelter in place, with all children whether they present with sensory processing challenges or are developing typically to support what their nervous system’s need
• offer strategies to support self regulation, arousal, promote attachment between child and caregiver and improve behavior across environments
