Topic: New World Sparrows
There are 131 species of new world sparrows in the Americas. These species which are in the family Passerellidae are more closely related to the old world buntings than to the sparrows of Europe. In this presentation, Ceredig Roberts will present photographs of some of his favorite new world sparrows that can be found in Idaho. He will discuss their breeding and migratory behavior and where they can be found in our state.

Ceredig Roberts, from Aberystwyth, Wales, United Kingdom, spent his youth enjoying the Welsh wilderness and playing soccer. He attended Oxford University where he earned an M.A. and Ph. D. in Physics and Materials Science. After working in the Semiconductor Industry in the U.K. for 5 years, he moved to Boise, Idaho to work for Micron Technology. He was a Senior Technical Director responsible for new memory technology developments. Ceredig retired in 2019 and has focused on his passion for capturing the wildlife of Idaho!
