International Forum for Environment, Sustainability and Technology (iFOREST), cordially invites you to the event of our report release- Environmental Laws and Climate Action: A case for enacting a framework climate legislation in India.

There is a growing debate in various countries on enacting a ‘framework climate legislation’ to enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation action. The consideration has become important as international treaties, such as the Paris Agreement, do not have an enforcement mechanism as those found in national laws; the absence of which can undermine climate action.

In this context, our report explores whether India needs a framework climate legislation, and if so, what is the scope, and what should be its contours. The report reviews major climate litigations around the world and in India, framework climate legislations in various countries, and existing laws related to environment, energy, and natural resource management in the country.
