Demanding Governor Cuomo 'Stop the Raids, Save the Fare,' Riders, Electeds, Advocates Will Rally To Protect Tax Revenue Dedicated To Public Transit From Diversion To Other Purposes

The governor's FY21 and FY22 raids on dedicated funds for public transit total hundreds of millions of dollars, exceeding revenue from a fare hike, recently postponed but still threatening riders

New York, NY--MTA riders, elected leaders, and transit advocates will join in a virtual rally against Governor Andrew Cuomo's planned fiscal raids on dedicated funds for public transit, including cuts of $98 million in FY21 and $145 million in FY22.

Who: Members and leaders of the Riders Alliance, NY Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris, and more (list in formation)

What: Riders, elected officials, and advocates will rally to stop Governor Cuomo's raids on funds set aside for public transit and diversions to other state purposes to prevent a regressive hike of subway and bus fares, paid overwhelmingly during COVID by essential workers and the millions of low-income New Yorkers without cars.
