For many clinicians, the work of health care has become undoable. The “cockpit” where physicians and other health professionals work now consists of a cacophony of warning alerts, pop-up messages, mandatory check boxes, a Sisyphean inbox, and maddening documentation. Paradoxically, many interventions intended to improve quality, safety, or value, when taken in totality, may in fact contribute to health system dysfunction by virtue of the cumulative impact on workload and consequent burnout.
During the webinar, Dr. Sinsky will discuss the science supporting the quality, safety, and business cases for focusing on creating a manageable cockpit for clinicians. She will also describe practical leadership, workflow, and teamwork interventions that can improve professional satisfaction and reduce burnout.
After the webinar, those attending will be able to:
• Articulate the business case for addressing physician well-being
• Bring home at least one change to improve efficiency in your own practice and
• Become inspired about the possibilities of reclaiming the joy in medicine.
About the series:
“Wellness Wednesdays” is a structured, bi-monthly webinar/conference call series that focuses on enhancing professional and personal wellness through the joy of medicine. The series will be facilitated by an expert speaker on the topic, offered for free to all participants, and scheduled on a Wednesday during the typical lunch hour (12:15 – 1:00 p.m. EST).
Webinar Structure: Participants will start each session with a brief overview of the discussion topic and then have the opportunity to share their own insight and ask questions at the end. It's a great way to make connections with peers who are also interested in wellness and professional satisfaction.
