Linda Nathan and Carmen Torres

Linda Nathan and Carmen Torres joined forces at Boston’s Fenway High School, where Linda was co-director and Carmen founded the pharmacy program. Their collaboration continued at Boston Arts Academy, where Linda was the founding headmaster and Carmen was founding assistant headmaster and then co-headmaster. They are now the co-founders and co-directors of the Perrone Sizer Institute for Creative Leadership, run by the Center for Artistry and Scholarship, where Linda is the Executive Director. Linda and Carmen mentor teachers and principals, and consult on issues of educational reform, leadership, teaching with a commitment to racial justice and equity, and arts and creativity in schools. They facilitate workshops and conversations on race, equity, and culturally relevant pedagogy. Linda teaches “Building Democratic Schools Studio Design Workshop” at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and has authored The Hardest Questions Aren’t on the Test and When Grit Isn't Enough.
