OVERVIEW OF THE SUMMIT
Global Peace and Development Service Alliance (GPDSA), in partnership with Global Peace Foundation, Blincventures, Chandaria Foundation, International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), and Standard Media Group is hosting a virtual GPDSA Africa Regional Summit on Friday, April 16th, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM EAT. This one-day summit will bring together over 1,000 multi-sector participants including peace practitioners and experts, educators, religious leaders, civil society leaders, governmental stakeholders, NGOs, school administrators, and media representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, USA, UK, and other countries to share best practices and lessons learned.
SCOPE OF THE SUMMIT
The pandemic has caused unprecedented global disruption and fundamentally altered approaches to peacebuilding. We are challenged to adapt to the new reality to minimize the devastating socio-economic impact of the pandemic on the world’s most vulnerable populations and to continue peacebuilding efforts. While social distancing requirements are undermining much existing peacebuilding, volunteer, entrepreneurial and climate action efforts, youth entrepreneurship and innovative approaches are being prioritized. With increasing calls for global solidarity and collaboration to address shared concerns,
panellists at the Africa Summit will explore both the challenges and opportunities for peacebuilding in the current context. The Summit will explore how we can work together to ensure that the responses to the pandemic through Youth Enterprise and Social Innovations in Africa are viable and effective.
