9/14: IMPLICIT BIAS: THE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY VIRUS
The phenomenon of implicit bias has been researched by social scientists for decades, but we rarely explore the implications of this concept on our daily lives. Explore how our unconscious associations get in the way of our public embrace of the concept of equity.

9/28: OPPORTUNITIES DENIED, PROMISES NOT KEPT:
RACISM AND BIAS, THE AFRICAN AMERICAN JOURNEY
What are the interpersonal and institutional impediments to success that African Americans experience? We'll discuss the difficult issues related to racism and bias in American society for all people of color.

10/12: BEYOND CULTURAL COMPETENCE TO EMBRACING CULTURAL HUMILITY:
THE CHALLENGE OF DIVERSITY IN A CULTURALLY PLURALISTIC SOCIETY
Dr. Bacon will talk about the difference between cultural competence and cultural humility, and the value of viewing the world from the multiple perspectives that diverse populations bring.
