What nation has the most lightning strokes in the world? Which country has the most lightning per area per year? What U.S. state has the most lightning and largest stroke density by area? Which nation has the most lightning deaths, and which country has the largest lightning death rate by population? Which U.S. state has the most lightning deaths, and which has the most per capita? What are the main reasons for these differences? These questions and more will be addressed during our webinar.

Ron has worked extensively in meteorological education issues, particularly those relating to lightning safety. He has authored or co-authored numerous papers, books and papers. He worked with NOAA research laboratories as with Vaisala. He has analyzed cloud-to-ground and cloud lightning data from ground-based detection networks as they relate to radar echoes, rainfall, flash floods, and winter weather, as well as compiling lightning climatologies. He participated in meteorological field programs. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in meteorology from Florida State University, and took additional coursework at the University of Miami. Mr. Holle was on the scientific organizing committees of the International Lightning Detection Conferences and International Lightning Meteorology Conferences. He was elected a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society in 2009, and received the Dr. T. Theodore Fujita Research Achievement Award from the National Weather Association in 2008.
