Designing with HSS members is advantageous for a variety of reasons. However, designing HSS connections present a unique set challenges that designers may not be familiar with compared to open section connection design. These challenges, such as unique limit states and difficulty strengthening an HSS, add complexity to the overall design. In this webinar, the Steel Tube Institute (STI) and RISA will outline guidelines when considering HSS connections while educating designers on how to design the most economical steel tube connections.
Register to learn how to:
• Evaluate the unique limit states required for HSS connection design
• Appropriately choose HSS member sizes to achieve economical connections
• Use RISAConnection to model and design HSS shear, moment and brace connections
