Using the Eureka Research Platform for Digital Trials

Digital technology can enable trial participation via an internet portal or smartphone app, eConsent, data collection directly via wearables and smartphones, ecologic momentary assessment, and other trial innovations. The Eureka Research Platform, a digital platform funded by NIH and housed at UCSF, supports digital trials and prospective data collection for funded researchers across the US. Recent innovations include multilingual support and "Eureka on FHIR", a mechanism for collecting EHR data from any consenting patient receiving care at a health system using an Epic-based EHR system who authorizes the connection via an EHR patient portal (no need for cooperation from the health system). We'll present more about the platform, lessons learned, answer questions, and ASK questions about what might be most useful for future development.
