In Conversation Live with Sir David Clementi
Sir David Clementi, who has just stepped down as Chairman of the BBC, will be joining Richard Murley, RSM Trustee, for an interesting conversation about his successful and varied career and some the high profile public and private sector positions he has held over the years. He will also be sharing his thoughts on wider issues including the role of the professions in society and his experience of governance issues.

Sir David was appointed as Chairman of the BBC in February 2017 and recently stood down on the completion of his 4-year term. In the past, Sir David has held many high-profile positions including Chairman of the King’s Cross Development, Chairman of Virgin Money from 2011-2015, Chairman of Prudential plc. from 2002-2008, and Deputy Governor of the Bank of England from 1997-2002. Prior to this, he worked at Kleinwort Benson for 22 years, including as Chief Executive, and was heavily involved in the Government’s privatisation programme.

As well as finance, Sir David has ample experience of governance issues, he served on the Board of the Financial Reporting Council, responsible for the Combined Code of Corporate Governance, and legal regulatory framework; from 2003-2004, Sir David carried out a review for the Ministry of Justice of the regulatory framework for legal services in England and Wales – the main recommendations of which formed the basis of the Legal Services Act 2007.
