Pleurothallids: Weeds of the Orchid World and New Color Forms of Phalaenopsis Species

As part of this year's Virtual Orchid Show, hosted by the Grand Valley Orchid Society with Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, we will be hosting demonstrations each day starting at 1PM!

Join us on Sunday as we learn more about these charismatic plants from Lynn O’ Shaughnessy, American Orchid Society judge and authority on pleurothallids, and Norman Fang, nationally renowned owner of Norman’s Orchids and Orchids.com. Each talk will include a presentation followed by a live Q&A session that you won't want to miss!

1:00 - Introduction

1:30 - Pleurothallids: Weeds of the Orchid World with Lynn O’ Shaughnessy
This fun talk compares pleurothallids to some of the more familiar orchids. This will be followed by an overview of the main groups of pleurothalids and some culture information.

2:30 - New Color Forms of Phalaenopsis Species with Norman Fang
Norman will be talking about the newly discovered color forms of various Phalaenopsis Species. As one of the World’s experts in this genre of orchids, Norman hybridizes unique varieties of Phalaenopsis which have garnered over 400 American Orchid Society Flower Quality awards and 20 AOS trophies through the years.
