Gray wolves (Canis lupus) have been largely absent from Colorado for nearly 80 years. With recent wolf sightings in Northern Colorado and an upcoming statewide vote on Proposition 114 that would reintroduce wolves to the state, Canis lupus appear to be on the verge of return. To inform how wolves are managed in the state, it is important to learn from other regions in the American West that have experienced wolf recovery.
The CSU Center for Human-Carnivore Coexistence and Denver Zoo is pleased to announce our guest and presenter: Dr. Doug Smith, a Senior Wildlife Biologist with the US National Park Service and project leader of the reintroduction and restoration of Yellowstone wolves.
Dr. Smith’s webinar will discuss the restoration of wolves to Yellowstone National Park and lessons learned for the potential recovery of wolves in Colorado. The webinar will take place Wednesday, October 14th from 5:00-6:00pm MST and will involve a brief presentation and Q&A.
