The Turkey-US Business Council (TAİK) will have an exclusive webinar with respect to the coup attempt in Turkey and its reflections over the Turkey-US relations on the fourth anniversary of the attempted coup, July 15th, 2020.
The webinar is entitled “A Nation’s Struggle for Democracy: July 15th” and features a very special guest speaker, Ekim Alptekin, a TAİK Board Member. Mr. Alptekin is a prominent Turkish businessman with investments in the aviation industry. He is also an expert on Turkey-US relations with past experience at he House Foreign Relations Committee and the Counter-terrorism department of Interpol.
The webinar will be moderated by Michael Doran, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute. Mr. Doran served in the George W. Bush White House as a senior director of the National Security Council, where he was responsible for helping to devise and coordinate US strategies on a variety of Middle East issues, including Arab-Israeli relations and US efforts to contain Iran and Syria. He also served as a senior advisor in the State Department and a deputy assistant secretary of defense at the Department of Defense.
The webinar will feature a discussion on Turkey-US relations with a special focus on Turkey’s struggle for democracy vis-à-vis the international criminal organization of Fethullah Gulen, FETO, which is designated as a terrorist organization in Turkey.
