NIH MIRA (R35) Established Investigator Webinar and Q&A
MIRA provides support for the research in an established investigator’s laboratory that falls within the mission of NIGMS. The goal of MIRA for Established Investigators (PAR-19-367) is to increase the efficiency of NIGMS funding by providing investigators with greater stability and flexibility, thereby enhancing scientific productivity and the chances for important breakthroughs. In this talk, Dr. Nie will review application requirements, offer guidance to craft strong applications, and answer questions about the program.

Zhongzhen Nie, Ph.D., is branch chief of the Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences (PPS) Branch in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry, where he administers research grants in ion channels, GAP junctions, and structural and functional membrane proteins and lipids. Prior to joining NIGMS, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. Nie earned a Bachelor of Medicine from Wannan Medical College in China and a Ph.D. in molecular pharmacology from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where he also conducted postdoctoral research prior to a research fellowship in the NCI Laboratory of Cellular Oncology.
