22TRA030 Tackling Reading at Junior Cycle
In this webinar, I will look at tackling reading in the junior cycle English classroom. I will be looking at the process of reading; why it is difficult and strategies we can use to help students with reading. I will discuss texts I use in my classroom and the benefits of “just reading” with a class. Finally, I will look at practical ways of engaging students with reading and promoting reading for pleasure:

· Why is reading so difficult? A look at Scarborough’s reading rope
· Identifying struggling readers in your class
· The benefits of “Just Reading”
· Practical ways to promote reading in the classroom
