NEPS: Effective Interventions for Struggling Readers
Make a Difference for Struggling Readers!

Twin Webinar: Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th August 2-3.30pm. Link for second webinar will be sent on Monday the 17th after the first webinar.

12 months progress in reading over 3 months of intervention!

Previous research by NEPS has shown that Irish teachers can, over the course of a 3 month intervention, help struggling readers make 12 months progress in both word reading and in reading comprehension. This session will describe the international research and will focus on interventions and approaches used in recent successful Action Research Projects.

Effective Interventions for Struggling Readers is a NEPS publication, freely available on the DES/NEPS website.

Educational Psychologists @NEPS
NEPS psychologists work with both primary and post-primary schools and are concerned with learning, behaviour, social and emotional development. Each psychologist is assigned to a group of schools. NEPS psychologists specialise in working with the school community. They work in partnership with teachers, parents and children in identifying educational needs. They offer a range of services aimed at meeting these needs, for example, supporting individual students (through consultation and assessment), special projects and research.
