WFF - Indigenous & Heritage Practices (Future Food Japan)
Future Food Institute (Japan) is pleased to invite you to our upcoming World Food Forum event “Indigenous & Heritage Practices from Japan”. We'll have presentations on the food-related history & practices of the Ainu & Ryukyu communities followed by a discussion on these topics in the context of modern-day Japan and for the next generation.

-Mr. Dai Kitabayashi, Chair of Slow Food Ryukyu & Advisory Board of Slow Food Indigenous Peoples’ Network
-Mrs. Kayo Tsukiyama, Member of Slow Food Community : Ainu women for the safeguard of Ainu food.
-Facilitator: Chris Krause, Director of Future Food Japan

-Introduction & housekeeping (5 minutes)
-Presentation of initiatives from speakers (50 minutes)
-Crosstalk discussion (20 minutes)
-Q&A w/ live global WFF audience (5-10 minutes)

Megumi Watanabe
After launching the Slow Food Youth Network in Japan, Megumi moved to Italy and received a master's degree from the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Since returning to Japan, she has played a central role in revitalizing Slow Food Japan as representative director.

Dai Kitabayashi
Dai Kitabayashi is a coordinator for projects to save biodiversity at Slow Food Nippon and also a member of the Advisory Board of Slow Food Indigenous Peoples’ Network. As an active indigenous youth leader of Slow Food, he has been leading a Slow Food convivium in Okinawa.

Kayo Tsukiyama
Kayo played a leading role in the project of the Ainu Ark of Taste, and was a member of the production team producing "Ipe Anlo (Let's Eat Together)" published in 2021. As an Ainu woman and a mother of a child, she is passionate to pass down the Ainu way of living in harmony with nature and the wisdom of their ancestors to the next generation.
