22TRA007 Managing & Understanding Challenging Behaviour for Primary & Post Primary Teachers & SNAs
Dates: 11th, 18th and 25th January, 1st February 2022

This webinar series is suitable for all Teachers & SNAs in both Primary & Post Primary Schools. It will be run over four 1.5 hour sessions in early 2022. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion. Over the 4 webinars the following areas will be examined in detail.

• Anxiety management & wellbeing for pupils with challenging behaviour
• Looking at the influence of co-morbid conditions on behaviour
• Learning to use a Functional Behaviour Assessment
• What is an environmental assessment
• Workshop activity on the different functions of behaviour
• Proactive ways to manage challenging behaviour
• ABC Charts
• Teaching alternative behaviours

Speakers

Muireann Sadlier
Muireann Sadlier is a Primary School Teacher who has worked in inner city DEIS settings in Limerick city and special school settings. She has completed a postgraduate study in SEN at St Patrick's, Drumcondra as well as the postgraduate diploma in SEN in Mary Immaculate College, where she completed her Masters (MSEN). This study examined communication & behaviour.  Following this she was seconded to the SESS for 4 years and subsequently to the NCSE for just under four years. In these roles she wrote and delivered seminars for education settings on literacy for the special school,  numeracy for the special school, working with non verbal pupils,  adapting and differentiating the curriculum for pupils with varied learning profiles, managing challenging behaviour, yoga & mindfulness in the school setting and wellbeing in the school setting. Currently she delivers bespoke CPD to school staff via ZOOM.
