Fostering international cooperation in research and innovation has been in the past years a strategic priority for the European Union. The cyclic occurrence of new global challenges, most recently the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rising interest of emerging economies in strengthening their expenditure in R&I, are challenging the role of the Union as a major global player in the field. Strengthening the cooperation with their international partners is therefore crucial for European countries to tackle those challenges together and have access to new knowledge.
PHE institutions, whose applied research activities play an important role in enhancing European competitiveness and innovation capacity, should be ready to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the exchanges with their strategic partners from outside Europe in the R&I field. This is particularly crucial in relation to the next EU framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe, which will reiterate its commitment to international cooperation.
Against this background, the webinar will outline the existing opportunities and schemes for networking and access to EU funds, in particular under the forthcoming Horizon Europe, for international cooperation between PHE institutions and potential strategic partners from Latin American countries.
Participants of the event are encouraged to send their questions before the meeting or raise them during the debate in the Zoom chatbox.
