Zurich-based MME lawyers Luka Müller-Studer and Thomas Linder with blockchain author/investor William Mougayar and smart contract developer Sebastian Bürgel discuss the legal and regulatory aspects surrounding the application of the Swiss Association model for blockchain projects and organizations.
Many previous Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) have been criticized for their uncertain legal status, liability and ability to manage real-world projects. With the aim to overcome these legal uncertainties, the Decentralized Autonomous Associations (DAAs) experiment of MME has uniquely merged technology and law to create and run organizations which are both, decentralized and legally compliant, to leverage transparent and democratic governance.
The DAA model may be a basis particularly for non-profit projects with limited financial resources looking for a legal structure with a bottom-up decision-making process.
