From legislating to providing effective scrutiny and oversight, parliamentarians have an important role to play in ensuring their countries are able to remain cybersafe. In the fast changing world of technology, cybercriminals are also constantly developing new techniques to attack individuals, businesses and public infrastructure meaning legislators must be able to stay ahead of emerging threats.
This has become even more true during the Covid-19 pandemic, in which many countries across the world have seen an increase in cybercrime due to sharp increases in online activity under lockdowns. In the UK alone the cost of Covid-19 related scams have been in the millions financially.
This final webinar of the series will feature insights from parliamentarians from across the Commonwealth. It will aim to highlight the role of oversight and scrutiny in addressing this very issue, how parliamentarians can ensure cybersecurity is prioritised within national security agendas and how parliamentarians can help tackle the challenges within the field of cybersecurity.
Panelists for this session will include Simon Fell MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cybersecurity, UK Parliament.
PLEASE NOTE: Time shown for the webinar is in UK time (GMT+1).
