Indigo Talks | Two Bundles of Reeds: (In)evitable Pain, (Im)possible Promise
We are thrilled to announce the launch of a NEW Ikeda Center event series, Indigo Talks! Please join us on Thursday, July 22nd, 7 pm EST, for the inaugural virtual talk featuring Dr. Francyne Huckaby, Professor of Curriculum Studies at Texas Christian University. Dr. Huckaby will explore the kyōsei (creative coexistence) of the pain and promise of this contemporary moment and attend to the tensions that struggles for kōsei (fairness) make evident, particularly as the world begins to emerge from the state of vulnerability experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Named after the Buddhist expression “from the indigo, an even deeper blue,” Indigo Talks is a new lecture series featuring renowned intellectuals in dialogue with enduring works by Daisaku Ikeda. Just as items repeatedly dyed with indigo turn bluer than the indigo itself, the Chinese allegory of the indigo plant exemplifies the impact learning has on deepening one’s wisdom, courage, and compassion.
