Learn from two different perspectives about the detailed requirements for a sound approach to infection prevention and control, with special attention to COVID-19. Infection control experts will speak on the theory behind infection prevention and control in public health, as well as how to put that into practice to keep residents safe and COVID-19 out of your home. You’ll hear from Madeline Ashcroft of Public Health Ontario and Jane Sinclair, General Manager for Health and Emergency Services in Simcoe County. Time will be reserved for questions.

Madeleine Ashcroft
Regional Infection Control Specialist @Public Health Ontario
Madeleine Ashcroft RN BScN MHS CIC, a nurse for more than 40 years, ‘trained’ at the Nightingale School, London, England, and worked in many specialty areas, including critical care, operating rooms, midwifery, renal, intravenous therapy, community care, and as a college educator, before getting into infection prevention and control (IPAC) a few years before SARS hit Toronto. Madeleine has worked in IPAC in acute, chronic, and rehab hospitals, long-term care, and regional networks, as well as with the WHO. She is current Director of Standards and Guidelines on the IPAC Canada Board and a Regional IPAC Specialist at Public Health Ontario.
Jane Sinclair
General Manager, Health and Emergency Services @The Corporation of the County of Simcoe
Jane Sinclair leads the Health and Emergency Services team at the County of Simcoe and is actively engaged in building new partnerships to support the evolving paradigm shift of our health care system that will provide excellent care for our residents. As a member of the County of Simcoe’s executive team, Jane provides leadership and strategic management for Health and Emergency Services which has included management of the 911 and Emergency Management Program, Long-Term Care and Seniors Services, and Paramedic Services. Her portfolio also included the business and project management of a major $80M redevelopment of Georgian Manor in Penetanguishene, a long-term care and adult lifestyle campus and is currently engaged in a second campus development for Simcoe Manor.
