Egan, MD is Vice President, Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in the Improving Health Outcomes group of the American Medical Association. He also serves as Professor of Medicine at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Greenville and as Past-President of the South Carolina Upstate affiliate of the American Heart Association. He received his medical degree and training in medicine and hypertension at the University of Michigan. He also served on the Board of Directors and President of the International Society of Hypertension in Blacks for many years. His professional interests center on hypertension, metabolic syndrome and vascular disease, which led to some 350 original papers and reviews. For the past 30 years, Dr. Egan’s has worked and continues to work with colleagues across the healthcare spectrum to translate the evidence-base into better cardiovascular outcomes, especially for medically underserved populations. Neha Sachdev, MD (Director @American Medical Association) Neha Sachdev is the Director of Health Systems Relationships in the Improving Health Outcomes group at the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Sachdev works with physicians and health systems to adopt evidence-based strategies to prevent cardiovascular disease. Prior to joining the AMA, Dr. Sachdev was a core faculty attending physician at the Virtua Health Family Medicine Residency and a practicing family medicine and obesity medicine clinician. She worked with both graduate and undergraduate medical trainees and was a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. She also served as the New Physician Trustee for the board of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians and was a visiting scholar at the Robert Graham Center of the American Academy of Family Physicians, where she conducted research on primary care spending methods.
