Launched in partnership with the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth and The Rockefeller Foundation, the data.org Inclusive Growth and Recovery Challenge sought to uncover innovative social impact organizations harnessing the power of data science to help people and communities thrive. The Challenge awarded $10M in funding and technical assistance to eight organizations from around the globe, each demonstrating exceptional ideas and potential for applying data science to encourage inclusive growth and economic recovery.
A new report captures the learnings from the Challenge: a deep dive into the process of soliciting applications, rigorous evaluation, and insights derived from 1,260 applications from four continents. Join Ginger Zielinskie, Chief Strategy Officer at data.org, Afua Bruce, Chief Program Officer at DataKind, Thomas Motmans, Sustainable Energy Finance Specialist at Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy (BASE) and Thijs Defraeye, Group Leader, SymBioSys at Empa for an informative discussion of the report and learnings from the perspective of both Challenge creation and participation.
This webinar will share what we learned about the problems applicants were tackling (and their alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals), the types of data science applied to these problems, as well as overall takeaways from implementing a Challenge of this scale. Whether you’re planning a Challenge or applying for one, please join us to see what we’ve learned, and add your voice to the conversation. Please submit your questions now at firstname.lastname@example.org, or during the event.
