Join Specialist, Carly Shearer in discussion with Clare Henry, former art critic for the Financial Times, Herald and Scotsman and curator for the 1987 Edinburgh International Festival exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art, The Vigorous Imagination.

In this discussion, Clare, reviews a selection of works by ‘New Glasgow Boys’ Ken Currie and Adrian Wiszniewski and others, in our Modern Scotland auction. The discussion will look at the works themselves as well as placing them within the ever evolving landscape of Scottish art across the last three decades.

Carly Shearer (Scottish Art Specialist @Lyon & Turnbull) Carly is a specialist and auctioneer, with a particular interest in Prints & Multiples, as well as Scottish and Contemporary paintings. She joined the Paintings Department at Lyon & Turnbull in 2014 and since then has worked across the department, cataloguing artworks but also writing and researching for catalogue essays, giving talks and developing event ideas to accompany our auction and exhibition programme. From August 2019 to August 2020, Carly acted up as Head of Contemporary & Post-War Art, covering a maternity leave. She now divides her time between working within the Modern & Contemporary department and developing the Prints & Multiples department.
