The Social Justice Associates from South Church, Portsmouth, NH, invite you to attend an online panel discussion focusing on the lives of refugees seeking shelter who find themselves detained at our borders and scattered across our country, including Strafford County.
Raquiba Huq, an attorney with the Immigration Representation Project and Legal Services of New Jersey will share her perspective on the American immigration system and on the plight of her clients awaiting trials. Maggie Fogarty of the Dover Friends Meeting House will discuss what is happening in our local community. Bienfait PolePole, a former detainee who has been granted asylum to live in New Hampshire will recount his experience. Jim Verschueren of South Church, Portsmouth will moderate.
Together, the panel will conclude by looking forward towards forging a more humane immigration system, at the local and national level. We will discuss actions each of us can take towards that goal.
