Brexit: the big day is nigh! A discussion of Brexit and its impact on trade marks and designs in the run up to the big day and beyond
The webinar is designed to give a final overview to the impact of Brexit on trade mark and design practice in the immediate run up to the end of the transitional period on 31st December 2020 with an eye to real time events, most notably the negotiation of the EU/UK free trade agreement.

As with all things Brexit, the political dimension should not be over looked and its impact of IP. It is likely by the date of this webinar we will know whether the UK and EU have or are likely to reach a free trade agreement governing their future trade relationship. We will look at the impact of this ‘deal’ or ‘no deal’ on IP such as Geographical Indications and other aspects of trade mark and design law and practice. We will also look forward to that post-Brexit world considering issues of exhaustion of rights and where potentially the UK is likely to diverge from EU trade mark and design practice in the future. A brief synopsis of our previous two webinars will also be provided in light of recent developments.
