An opening dialogue with Ania Loomba and the 'Curious Curatorium' on Chittaprosad, his revolutionary peers and cultural work, past and present. Presented by Victoria Memorial Hall and DAG this opening walkthrough and presentation is a part of the exhibition 'People's Artist - Chittaprosad In Solidarity, In Solitude'.
The dialogue explores the intersections of art and politics through the work of the artists like Chittaprosad during the turbulent years of the Bengal famine and the final years before independence. Prof. Loomba will be joined by students of the Curious Curatorium who have been a part of the collective process of curating Chittaprosad's works for the online exhibition. Together they will examine how Chittaprosad's works resonate with the current socio-political context, and explore perspectives on cultural activism today.
The event will include sign language interpretation for audiences using Zoom on their computers.
