Pierce v. Murrieta Valley Unified School District

Join PSB attorneys Rahul Ravipudi and Robert Glassman along with special guest speakers, California State Senator Melissa Melendez and Alex Deaconson of DK Global, for an open discussion on Pierce v. Murrieta Valley Unified School District -- a wrongful death case involving 13-year-old Alex Pierce who tragically drowned while under the supervision of school district staff and personnel.

Following an overview of the case, our speakers will break down their strategies that resulted in an $11,000,000 wrongful death settlement for the family of the 13-year-old boy as well as significant changes to the school district’s policies and procedures, including implementing water safety and CPR requirements. Topics for discussion include the use of surveillance video to establish negligence, the use of graphics to explain the physiological effects of drowning as well as collaborating with local and state legislators to create and lobby for bills aimed at keeping the public safe.
