Description
Join Wes Jackson, co-founder of The Land Institute in Salina, for a conversation about two new books that explore his life and work. Jackson’s new book, "Hogs Are Up: Stories of the Land, with Digressions," is a collection of stories from his life, starting with from the Kansas farm where he grew up and moving through his internationally renown work on sustainable agriculture and environmental education. Jackson will be joined by Robert Jensen, author of the new book "The Restless and Relentless Mind of Wes Jackson: Searching for Sustainability," which summarizes Jackson’s key ideas from the past half century. Both books were published this spring by the University Press of Kansas. In this program, Jensen will explain the importance of Jackson’s ecological thinking, and Jackson will tell some of the stories from his book, which are not only entertaining but also illuminate crucial social and ecological issues.
