Yvette Jarvis Interview
The Hellenic-American Cultural Center & Museum of Oregon and SW Washington is presents an online interview with former Athens city councilwoman Yvette Jarvis. Ms. Jarvis will be in conversation with Stacey Gianopoulos about her experience of immigrating to Greece in the 1980’s from the United States.

Jarvis began her career in Greece as a professional basketball player with Panathinaikos B.C. before becoming nationally known as a model and singer. This success was parlayed into a career in public service as an Athens city councilwoman. Jarvis was the first black person elected to office anywhere in Greece.
