Closing the Loop: Increasing Post-Consumer Recycled Content for Circular Outcomes
Circular economy concepts are becoming formalized and embraced by businesses, communities, and governments around the world. Core to circular economic principles is to incorporate circular supplies in manufacturing and resource recovery at end-of-life.

The economic value of plastic lost to waste in Canada is $8 billion yearly and expected to increase to more than $11 billion by 2030. Using recycled or post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) as a resource for new products displaces virgin plastic made from fossil fuels.

Given the declining global value of plastic recyclates, export restrictions from traditional markets, domestic expansion, and recognizing its ability to drive market demand the Government of Canada released an integrated plastic waste management plan with PCR requirements in plastic products at a minimum of 50% by 2030.

Recognizing and connecting regulatory obligations, market dynamics, and consumer demands, leading companies are taking action on plastic waste. Keurig Dr Pepper has made ambitious commitments and targets towards the integration of post-consumer recycled plastics into their products: include 30% PCR content across all packaging portfolio by 2025; incorporate post-consumer rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) in beverage bottles; and introduce recycled plastic in Keurig® brewers starting in 2020

Join us as we discuss the opportunities and challenges presented by increasing PCR content across Keurig Dr Pepper’s packaging portfolios and products.

This panel discussion will be moderated by Jo-Anne St. Godard, Executive Director, Recycling Council of Ontario, and feature Stéphane Glorieux, President, Keurig Dr Pepper Canada and Jean-Luc Lavergne, Founder of Lavergne, one of Canada’s leading recycled plastics producers.
