Single Tooth Implant Post Extraction Replacement. What is the Ideal Timeframe? by Dr.Jack Goldberg
With the advent of technology, novel implant designs and newer surfaces combined with more efficient biomaterials, there is a growing tendency to place single tooth implants immediately after extracting a failing tooth. With today’s clinical procedures it is predictable to achieve implant osseointegration and adequate esthetics.
There are 4 main distinctive phases in which we can decide to place the implant based on the timing after extraction: Immediate implant placement, Early implant placement with soft tissue healing, Early implant placement with partial bone healing and Late implant placement.

This lecture will explore these different scenarios and risk factors associated with the timing of implant placement, exemplifying with multiple clinical scenarios, and covering different restorative and surgical protocols. It will provide guidelines that can be easily followed and implemented in practice, helping the interdisciplinary team comprised of restorative dentist, surgeon and dental technician improve their communication and hence their clinical results.

• Understand surgical and prosthetic options when treating a failing single tooth.
• Analyze different surgical materials available in the market to enhance the treatment outcome.
• Explore potential prosthetic materials and designs used to rehabilitate a single implant supported restoration.
• Improve the interdisciplinary communication amongst the team.
