Cousin is a distinguished fellow of global agriculture at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and a visiting scholar at Stanford University. She served from 2012 to 2017 as executive director of the World Food Program at the United Nations. Cousin is a Chicago native and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Georgia Law School. In 2014 Cousin was named one of TIME’s "The 100 Most Influential People."
