Join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on Wednesday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. CT via Zoom for a conversation with Chasity Wells-Armstrong, mayor of Kankakee, Illinois, and John Shaw, Institute director, as they discuss Wells-Armstrong's career in social work and politics as well as her Kankakee Forward agenda as mayor.
Wells-Armstrong was elected Mayor of Kankakee in April 2017, becoming the city’s first African-American mayor and the second woman elected mayor. A social worker, Wells-Armstrong worked for two members of Congress, served on Kankakee’s City Council, and taught graduate level social welfare policy at Chicago State University.
This program is part of a series of virtual conversations sponsored by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute with mayors from different Illinois communities focusing on their career and the challenges and opportunities civic leaders face during this time of tumultuous change.
We would love to hear from you! If you would like to ask Mayor Wells-Armstrong a question, please email your question to firstname.lastname@example.org or include it below in the "Questions & Comments" box.
