A Consensus-Based Approach to Protect & Reinvigorate Primary Care in Texas
A strong primary care system is fundamental to a strong and high-functioning health system. However, COVID-19 has laid bare the vulnerability of our primary care system and exacerbated the health needs and access to care challenges for the communities it serves, especially the most vulnerable. Building upon the recent release of our issue brief and open letter to Gov. Abbott, through this session, we will illuminate the patient, provider, and systems-level impact of COVID-19 on our primary care needs and infrastructure. Join us to hear from our diverse group of panelists who will provide their perspective while sharing their experience and efforts to protect and reinvigorate primary care in immediate response and long-term recovery. Through this, we seek to leave our attendees with recommendations that build on, extend, or complement what is outlined in the issue brief while including diverse perspectives and ongoing efforts.

We are pleased to welcome the following panelists:
1) Sue Bornstein, MD, FACP, Co-lead, Texas Primary Care Consortium (Moderator)
2) Roxana L. Cruz, MD, FACP, Director of Medical & Clinical Affairs, Texas Association of Community Health Centers
3) Tom Banning, Executive Director, Texas Academy of Family Physicians
4) Helen Kent Davis, Associate Vice President, Governmental Affairs, Texas Medical Association
