FASS Science Policy Webinar: The Impact and Role of Public Funding in Agriculture and the U.S. Economy
The Food Animal Science Societies Science Policy Committee are happy to announce the upcoming webinar titled: “The Impact and Role of Public Funding in Agriculture and the U.S. Economy”

This will be a brief, engaging summary of past results, present conditions and future possibilities on the role of public and private research funding on the US Economy and Quality of life. The USDA and other agencies have funded billions of dollars in research that has benefitted all of society, not just ‘agriculture.’ The amount of public money spent on research in all aspects of agriculture is a tiny fraction of the total amount spent on food production and has had far reaching effects on human health and the U. S. Economy overall. Local economies up through major effects on foreign trade all have benefited from ‘ag research’, but that funding presently may not be sufficient to rise to the challenges of the present and future.

We intend this for students, faculty, specialists, any involved in ag or anyone that buys food, or anyone that eats! This will be a brief summary of the past, present and questions and ideas for the future, with some time for questions and discussion.
