Description

Esthetic complications associated with implant therapy can have a devastating effect on the final outcome of treatment. This lecture will focus on how to identify and avoid potential complications before they arise and how to manage some of the more common esthetic complications that can occur with implant treatment. Emphasis will be given to risk assessment and proper treatment planning principles.

Topics of discussion include:
1. Pre-operative risk assessment of critical factors associated with esthetic complications
2. How to avoid esthetic complications
3. Management of the ailing implants ( (labial tissue recession, esthetic failures, etc.)

Associate Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC (active faculty member since 2000). Lectured and taught internationally (across 6 continents) on bone regeneration and dental implant-related surgery. Published extensively in scientific texts and professional peer-review journals, primarily on the area of hard/soft tissue regeneration for improving esthetic outcomes. Has been a main podium speaker at numerous national organizations including the AAOMS, AO, AAID, the American College of Prosthodontists, the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontists, and ICOI. Recently inducted as an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists, and is a recipient of the Charles E. English Award in Clinical Science for “the most significant article” published in the Journal of Implant Dentistry for 2008. Diplomate of the AAOMS, the ADSA, and the ICOI.
