We invite you to the discussion: Crisis is the mother of opportunity about the challenges our sector is facing for the coming years. This virtual event will be built on the shared experience of two international experts, Tomas Eskilsson and Johanna Koljonen, hosted by Kirsten Lemaire (VRT).

They'll touch upon their respective work on the matter, The Pandemic and Cinema strategy paper, and the Nostradamus Initiative a multiyear international initiative to document and analyze industry changes and make projections for the future.

During our first screen.brussels talks, we'll make sure you'll have the opportunity to participate, react, and share your thoughts. And we'll (briefly) present screen.brussels yearly achievements.

She is the author of the Göteborg Film Festival’s annual Nostradamus Report, which charts the near future of the screen industries with a focus on scripted content. She lectures internationally on changes in the media sector, as well as on participation and narrative design for games and on creating experiences in analogue and virtual spaces. Her background is in public service broadcasting in Sweden and she serves on the board of the Swedish Film Institute. In 2011, she received the Swedish Grand Journalism Award in the Innovator category. Her latest book is Larp Design: Creating Role-Play Experiences (2019). Tomas Eskilsson (Head of Strategy @Film i Väst) After working as a teacher and researcher, Tomas Eskilsson started Film i Väst in 1992. Film i Väst is Scandinavia’s major regional film fund and one of the biggest regional film funds in Europe. During the last twentyfive years Film i Väst has co-produced close to 700 feature films. Some examples are: “Dancer in the Dark” (Lars von Trier); “Melancholia” (Lars von Trier), “In A Better World” (Susanne Bier), “The Hunt” (Thomas Vinterberg), “A man called Ove” (Hannes Holm), “Fucking Åmål” (Lukas Moodysson), “A Royal Affair” (Nicolai Arcel), “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” (Niels Arden Oplev), “Their Square” (Ruben Östlund) and most recently four time EFA-award winner “Another Round” (Thomas Vinterberg).
