In order to ensure the health and safety of our attendees and speakers, our regional opticians associations have decided to hold their fall educational seminars virtually (and jointly) through Zoom conferencing on Sunday, November 8th!

This conference will be an exciting, new partnership, entitled, O.N.E. "Opticians of New England".

Valerie is the President of Manso Management Resources, Inc., a training and development company specializing in the ophthalmic industry. Additionally Valerie is Vice President of Sales and Education for BluTech Lenses and Director of Staff Education for OD Excellence. As a 40+ year veteran of the optical industry Valerie brings a wealth of expertise including14 years in retail; Store Manager, District Manager, National Operations Coordinator, National Training and Development Manager, and Director of Retail Operations for a 60 store retail chain. Valerie's responsibilities at the retail chain, included the management of 38 Optometric practices, 3 labs and 270 retail employees.

Opticianry Program Chair @Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology
Blair Wong is a Massachusetts licensed optician, an ophthalmic educator, and a master optician. Blair is an Associate Professor of Optics and serves as Chair of the opticianry department at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, and is an adjunct faculty member at the New England College of Optometry. He is committed to advancement of the optical profession and serves as past president and executive director of the Opticians Association of Massachusetts, director to the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners, director to the board of One Dollar Glasses USA, and serves on many national committees. Throughout his career, Blair has presented many educational and motivational presentations to local, regional, and national audiences.
Phernell Walker ABOM, NCLEC
Master Optician @Pure Optics
Phernell Walker is an internationally recognized educator and author of the text-book Pure Optics. He is a Master in Ophthalmic Optics, earned an MBA from Marylhurst University (Portland, OR), National Contact Lens Certified (NCLC) and a graduate of Hillsborough Community College with an Associate of Science Degree in Ophthalmic Optics. Mr. Walker has received multiple awards for his work in optics; Joseph Bruneni Award in Ophthalmic Optics from the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry, National Academy of Opticianry's Educator of the Year 2017, Beverly Meyers Achievement Award in Ophthalmic Optics (2011) and International Vision Expo's Visionary 2016. Mr. Walker serves on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Opticianry, National Academy of Opticianry, Vision Expo and the Commission Opticianry Accreditation.
