TMSi Expert Talk: Early EEG for neurological prognostication of postanoxic coma in the ICU
Which processes fail during hypoxia/ischaemia and what is the relation to EEG recordings? Professor van Putten will present the most common EEG patterns that can be observed in comatose patients after cardiac arrest and will review the prognostic relevance. He will stress the importance of evaluation of EEGs with respect to the time of cardiac arrest and show that early recordings (< 24 h) have the best prognostic value. In closing, he will discuss how AI (deep learning) can assist in the interpretation of these EEG patterns.
