Rory Back
R&D Incubator & Value-Added-Product Technical Manager @NSG Pilkington
Rory Back, from Liverpool, UK, studied Chemistry at Durham from 2011-2014. He then joined NSG as a Technologist in the Thin Film Technology department, and was seconded to his current role in 2018 as the R&D Incubator & Value-Added-Products Technical Manager. Rory works within the R&D Incubator to develop new technologies, applications, and SME partnerships for glass. He is the author of multiple patents in thin-film coatings and glass technology. Rory is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, including the Surface Coatings Interest Group.
Dr Sonny Ngo
Corrosion Group Manager @Beckers Group
I am a PhD coating and corrosion scientist with nearly 25 years experience in the coating industry, over 19 years of which have been in coil coatings. I have extensive knowledge and experience of the formulation chemistries and mechanical physics of surface coatings. In addition, I have specialist knowledge of different analytical techniques for the surface coatings industry. I have a proven record of accomplishment of managing teams to develop new and novel products for the coating industry. In addition, I have acted as an industrial supervisor for a number of universities PhD projects and have successfully been involved in UK & EU state funded projects.
Professor Joseph Keddie
Professor of Soft Matter Physics @University of Surrey
Prof. Joe Keddie’s research area is mainly on waterborne polymer colloids and their applications in coatings and soft adhesives, studied with techniques including NMR imaging, microscopies, and surface analysis. He was awarded a Medallion from Coatings Societies International in 2015 and the RSC/SCI Thomas Graham Lectureship in 2017. He is the former Chair of the IOP Polymer Physics Group, a Council Member of the High Polymer Research Group, an Editorial Board member of ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Awards Co-ordinator for the RSC/SCI Joint Colloids Group, and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Chemical Building Blocks Consortium in The Netherlands. A co-author of >150 journal articles and a book on latex film formation, he has >9000 citations in the literature. He has contributed to several EU projects and collaborates widely with industry.
